On August 9th, 2026, Dr. Shri Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan (DSNDP) volunteers came together across the Ontario communities of Markham, Ajax, and Pickering to lead cleanliness drives under their Adopt-A-Park, Adopt-A-Road, and Adopt-A-Highway programs. These efforts reflect DSNDP’s steady commitment to advancing environmental sustainability and civic pride throughout the province. Altogether, 24 volunteers collected 29 bags of waste, clearing approximately 435 pounds of garbage across the three sites. This work continues to be shaped by the visionary leadership of Dr. Appasaheb Dhrmadhikari and Dr. Sachindada Dharmadhikari.
The Markham cleanliness drive was also attended by Councillors Amanda Yeung Collucci and Alan Ho. Councillor Collucci, who visited Wismer Park this past May, praised DSNDP volunteers for their inspiring commitment to the environment and noted the initiative’s positive impact across Ontario. Councillor Ho presented DSNDP with a certificate of recognition in appreciation of the organization’s ongoing environmental efforts.
The day began at Wismer Park (980 Bur Oak Avenue, Markham) from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, where volunteers took part in an Adopt-A-Park initiative in partnership with the City of Markham. That afternoon, two simultaneous cleanup drives ran from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM — an Adopt-A-Road initiative along Salem Road, between Rossland Road and Taunton Road in Ajax, in collaboration with the City of Ajax, and an Adopt-A-Highway cleanup along Highway 7, between Sideline 20 and Brock Road in Pickering, supported by the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO).
Since April 2023, DSNDP has expanded its presence to 10 cities across Ontario, engaging 931 volunteers who have collectively removed over 25,005 pounds of waste. Beyond cleanup efforts, the organization has also led tree-planting drives and partnered with Canadian Blood Services to host plasma donation campaigns — reflecting a commitment that extends well beyond environmental stewardship. To date, DSNDP has successfully completed 15 cleanliness drives in 2026, underscoring its steadfast commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and engaging even more communities province-wide.
In recognition of its outstanding community impact, DSNDP was honored with the Civic Pride Award 2024 by the City of Niagara Falls — a testament to the organization’s enduring dedication to building cleaner, healthier, and more connected communities across Ontario.
