Toronto police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a downtown taxi theft over the weekend. The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. on Saturday near the intersection of Bay Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West. According to police, the cab driver had left his vehicle unlocked with the keys in the ignition while he stepped away briefly to throw out garbage.
As the driver turned back, he noticed his taxi being driven away southbound on Bay Street. Police were notified, and the taxi was eventually recovered by investigators.
On Monday, police released video footage from inside the cab, showing a woman with shoulder-length, wavy hair behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle. While no detailed suspect description has been provided, authorities hope that the images shared will help the public identify the woman involved in the theft.
