Two Arrested For First-Degree Murder In Shooting Death Of Harshandeep Singh, Edmonton Security Guard

Edmonton police have arrested two individuals in connection with the fatal shooting of 20-year-old security guard Harshandeep Singh at a downtown apartment building. The incident occurred early Friday morning, around 12:30 a.m., near 106 Street and 107 Avenue.

On Saturday, authorities announced the arrests of 30-year-old Evan Rain and 30-year-old Judith Saulteaux. Both suspects have been charged with first-degree murder, and a weapon was recovered during their apprehension.

Details of the Incident Captured on Video

A video reportedly documenting the events leading to the shooting shows a man and a woman walking down a hallway, with the man pointing a large gun multiple times. At the end of the hallway, he appears to strike someone off-camera with the weapon before all individuals, including the security guard, move into a stairwell.

Inside the stairwell, the video captures the security guard being momentarily held by the woman before attempting to flee. The man then shoots him in the back, causing him to collapse at the bottom of the stairs. The suspects and a third individual seen in the footage then leave the scene.

Investigation and Police Statements

Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has acknowledged the video but has not confirmed its authenticity as the investigation is ongoing. Officials believe only two individuals were responsible for Singh’s death, despite the presence of a third person in the video.

An autopsy for Singh is scheduled for Monday. Police have stated that no further suspects are being sought at this time.

Public Assistance Requested

The investigation remains active, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Edmonton police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a cellphone. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.

Singh’s death has raised concerns about safety and violence in downtown Edmonton, as the community mourns the loss of a young security professional.
