October, 2024, BRAMPTON/ETOBICOKE – William Osler Health System (Osler) is thrilled to announce the new Osler Research Institute for Health Innovation (ORIHI) during ‘Celebrate Research Week’, taking place from November 18 to 22, 2024. ORIHI is set to drive cutting-edge health care advancements that will directly benefit Osler’s community, bringing innovative treatments, ground-breaking research, and enhanced patient care and treatment. This launch marks a significant step toward improving health outcomes for residents across the region. ORIHI builds on over a decade of Osler’s leading-edge research, taking its program to new heights and strengthening its commitment to advancing health care innovation. The Institute will be a dynamic hub for research, education, and collaboration across sectors, bringing together health care, technology, and academic partners to inspire innovative solutions within the health care system.

During Celebrate Research Week, members of the public, partners, and dignitaries are invited to experience Osler’s pioneering research first-hand and discover the impactful regional initiatives that position Brampton and Osler as trailblazers in the health innovation ecosystem. A series of events across Osler’s sites to showcase visionary research work and healthcare advancements.

Celebrate Research Week will showcase daily themes that explore critical areas such as health care collaboration, technological advancements, system transformation, education, and community health. Regional research efforts will also be a focus, including the highly-anticipated opening of Toronto Metropolitan University’s new School of Medicine in 2025, with Osler as the primary clinical partner. The community can also participate in dynamic events that inspire and educate such as:
- Engaging panel discussions and keynote addresses with leading researchers from Osler and beyond;
- A Science Meets Art exhibition: An immersive showcase of creativity intersecting with research and innovation; and
- A Research Open House: A behind-the-scenes experience with Osler’s research projects and clinical trials team.
The celebrations will highlight individual achievements and showcase the collective impact of Osler’s research on shaping the future of health care in the community and beyond.
