October 18: New Zealand secured their spot in the T20 World Cup final after a thrilling eight-run win against West Indies in Sharjah.
The match began with an impressive 48-run opening partnership between Georgia Plimmer, who scored 33, and Suzie Bates, who added 26. However, West Indies made a strong comeback with Deandra Dottin taking 4 wickets for 22 runs and Afy Fletcher picking up 2 for 23, limiting New Zealand to 128 runs for 9 wickets.
In response, Eden Carson quickly took three wickets, leaving West Indies struggling at 41 for 3. She dismissed key players, including Qiana Joseph, who scored 12, and Hayley Matthews, who added 15, allowing New Zealand to take control.
Despite being dropped multiple times, Dottin hit three sixes in one over, keeping West Indies in the game until she was out for 33 runs, thanks to Melie Kerr, who took 2 wickets for 14 runs. The West Indies needed 15 runs in the last over but could only manage six, finishing at 120 for 8.
With this victory, New Zealand will face South Africa in the final, as South Africa triumphed over Australia in the other semi-final match, set to take place on Sunday in Dubai.
