The event, held near Parliament Hill, comes as U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats of tariffs and annexation fuel a wave of patriotism in Canada.
With recent polls showing the Conservatives’ lead narrowing, Poilievre has been pushing his Canada First message more strongly. In a video earlier this week, he urged all Canadians, regardless of political beliefs, to proudly display the national flag this weekend.
His campaign also released an ad featuring his wife, Anaida Poilievre, where they raise the Canadian flag together and speak about restoring the country’s promise.
The Conservatives have encouraged attendees to wear red and white to the rally, reinforcing national pride as tensions with the U.S. grow.
