Aurora Town Council reviewed its preliminary 2026 budget on Tuesday, presenting a proposal that includes a 2.2% property tax increase. If approved, the change would add approximately $56.94 to the average household’s annual tax bill.
The draft also reflects the town’s effort to limit discretionary spending and avoid new hires amid growing cost-of-living pressures. Mayor and council members noted that residents have been calling for financial restraint, urging the municipality to “show the same discipline people are practicing at home.”
In addition to the local tax adjustment, residents can expect a regional rise in water and wastewater rates, projected to add about $19.26 per quarter to household costs. Council will continue reviewing and debating the proposed budget before final approval later this year.
